The IBC Accelerator Media Innovation Programme has named Evolution of the Control Room as the winner of its 2024 Project of the Year Award.

The project brought together industry experts to explore how live production workflows can be enhanced through XR, AI, voice control, and HTML-based graphics solutions.nxtedition was pleased to contribute to this collaborative project, supporting the development of proof-of-concept workflows that demonstrated the potential of AI and virtual control room solutions in live production.

nxtedition played a key role in the award-winning Evolution of the Control Room project, exploring how Extended Reality (XR) and AI-driven automation can reshape live production. By integrating virtual control rooms with XR headsets, nxtedition demonstrated how broadcasters could operate remotely, efficiently, and with greater flexibility. This innovation allows producers to manage live broadcasts from anywhere, reducing the need for traditional physical infrastructure.

You can see some of the findings in this video:

Beyond XR, nxtedition also contributed to AI-enhanced newsroom workflows, where automation supports real-time decision-making, news analysis, and content production. These advancements streamline operations, improve scalability, and enhance collaboration, proving that AI and virtual production tools are not just concepts but practical solutions for the future of broadcasting. The success of this project at IBC 2024 highlights nxtedition’s commitment to driving the next generation of live production technology.
